Magnalock

Magnalock

Magnalocks are designed to secure any type of door or gate that closes against a fixed stop. The product consists of an electromagnet that mounts on the fixed frame and a strike plate that mounts on the moving door or gate. The strike plate is delivered with fasteners that permit it to flex so when the door closes, it automatically self aligns with the magnet. Magnetic force then takes over, strongly securing the door. Release is achieved by switching off power to the magnet.

Several Magnalock models are available:

Model 32 and Model 34

The Models 32 and 34 provide 600 pounds of "traffic control" security and are recommended for applications where a physical assault on the door is not expected. Primary advantages of the Models 32 and 34 are lower cost and compact size.

Model 34R

For sliding doors, the Model 34R series offers concealed, recessed mounting. It provides 600 pounds of holding power.

Model 62

The Model 62 series offers higher security with 1200 pounds of holding force. Entry cannot be obtained without special tools, or before the door or frame gives way. It’s recommended for high security openings and for outdoor use on all gate types.

Model 82SC

At 1800 pounds, the Model 82SC series provides maximum holding strength. Applications include prison facilities, or anywhere extra strength is required. The Model 82SC is also effective on large exterior gates or with a split strike plate on double doors.

Energy Absorbing Hardware Option

The EASB is specifically designed for high security applications on stiff doors (such as prison doors) where the door opens into the protected area. This permits an impact attack. When the door is quite rigid, the force of the impact transmits well to the lock. The EASB replaces the standard sex bolt and includes a powerful internal spring which absorbs and dissipates the force of the blow.

Shear Aligning Magnalock (SAM)

Shear Aligning Magnalock (SAM)

SECURITRON’s Shear Aligning Magnalock® (SAM) permits concealed magnetic locking in aluminum, wood and steel doors with a holding force of 1,000 lbs. while operating on a scant 4 watts of power. The SAM magnet and strike plate are mortised into the door and frame while taking up only 1-1/2" in width. The SAM provides the ultimate in architectural finish and security for single or double acting openings.

The patented design allows the SAM to self-align into the correct locking position without the use of door position sensing or auxiliary timing circuitry. The conical button design, with matching holes on the magnet, maintains swing through operation on double acting doors while eliminating the risk of partial or premature strike plate capture when powered or lock binding when not powered.

The SAM may be mounted at the top, side, or bottom of the door without the need to purchase additional brackets. For specialty applications, an optional surface mount kit is available for mounting the magnet and/or the strike plate when mortising is not possible. SECURITRON’s Senstat lock status monitoring is available as an option.

For traffic control applications where a SAM cannot be installed due to door or frame size limitations, the SAM2 is available. The SAM2 has many of the same features as the SAM but in a smaller size and with a traffic control holding force of 600 lbs. The SAM2 mortises into doors or frames as narrow as 1-1/4" in width and is also perfect for other applications such as cabinet doors and closet doors.
