Specifications
Sound Transmission Classification (STC) doors shall be 757, 1-3/4" thick as manufactured by CURRIES of Mason City, Iowa. 757 doors installed in CURRIES Q frame system sound assemblies are capable of STC 43 or 45 in accordance with ASTM E-90 and manufacturer's installation criteria.
Doors are to be manufactured of the finest quality 16 or 14 gauge cold-rolled stretcher leveled flatness steel or galvannealed steel. Doors shall be reinforced, insulated, and sound-deadened with sound retardant materials capable of achieving listed assembly ratings. The core is continuously and permanently bonded to the inside of each face sheet. The door lock edge reinforcing shall be one piece, full height 14 gauge steel channel. The door hinge edge reinforcing shall be one piece, full height 12 gauge steel channel, formed and tapped for hinges. Both lock and hinge edge of the door shall have an exposed hairline seam (757S) or both edges shall be welded, filled and ground smooth the full height of the door (757N) edge.
Steel end closer channels are 12 gauge top and 16 gauge bottom. (STC 45 doors require perforated flush top and bottom caps installed.) Doors shall be beveled [1/8" (3) in 2" (51)] on the lock edge and square on the hinge edge. All doors shall be bonderized and finished as standard with one coat of baked-on prime coat paint. Minimum hardware reinforcments shall be as follows: closers-12 gauge, panics-14 gauge, hinges and locks as previously specified herein, pivots-7 gauge conforming to template requirements.
